Short Description: The Cajal Club, the oldest neuroscience society, hosts a social evening focused on a theme of increasing interest in
cortical studies: scaling up simulations based on realistic architectures of cortical neurons and their wiring. Leaders in this effort, involving neuroanatomy, electrophysiology, computational modeling, BlueBrain and other supercomputer resources, synaptic circuitry, cell and brain imaging, and neuroinformatics, will discuss the state of the art, with the aim of realistic simulations that can give insight into the neural basis of cortical function and guide experimental analysis. We will also honor winners of the Krieg Cortical Kudos and Sanford L. Palay Award.
